- REVELATION(S) OF 2012 (limited to 3)
Seeing The Obsessed rehearse in the basement, preparing for Roadburn gig!
Polish Doom Metal crowd at Goleniów.
New Finnish prog rock band Sammal. I really like 1970s stuff like Haikara, Tabula Rasa, and Finnforest, and they capture that vibe & innocence perfectly, like a time machine.
- TOP LIVE PERFORMANCES OF 2012
Seeing The Obsessed rehearse in the basement, preparing for Roadburn gig!
Sigiriya & Orchid on the last April tour we had with them, every night.
The Wounded Kings at HDDT-festival in Copenhagen.
Sleep in Helsinki.
Hexvessel in Helsinki.
- On a more personnal point of view, please give us your own appreciations about this year and - if there’s any particular - your expectations for 2013 ?
This was a hard year because there was a lot of work to do. Not as much time for music and especially live shows as I would have liked. Next year there will be a new Lord Vicar full length album, 'Gates of Flesh', and some cool live shows as well.
ZACH Wilding (BALAM)
my top albums of 2012...all the shit ICE DRAGON released was great, but Tome of the Future Ancients and Dream Dragon were my 2 favorites. PILGRIM's Misery Wizard is a masterpiece. the return of Saint Vitus with Lillie f65 was great. hmm thats all i can really think of. a lot of bands released some great stuff this year like windhand, cough, the sword, electric wizard, in the company of serpents, i can go on.... but those really stand out for me.
LIVE SHOWS i didn't get to go to many unfortunately but i did however get to see Elder and Pilgrim a few times each. both those bands fucking rule...
there is a lot to anticipate for 2013 already... Goatess should be releasing an album. i'd love to see an album from MAGIC CIRCLE. War Injun is doing a US tour so it will be cool to get to see them up here. also a new Balam album

GRANT Netzorg (IN THE COMPANY OF SERPENTS)
* Ladybird – Demo 2012/Ontalogical Physicalism
We got to play with these dudes earlier this summer, and they kill it pretty fucking hard. I’m really looking forward to hearing what they’re gonna do next. They kind of remind me of what would happen if you fed a band like Weedeater, Bongzilla, or Dopethrone nothing but amphetamines instead of copious amounts of weed.
* Ice Dragon – Tome of the Future Ancients
You could probably put anything Ice Dragon did this year on this list, but if someone put a gun to my head I’d chose this as my favorite. I’m a little jealous that these guys can be so prolific yet consistently solid.
* Fister – The Infernal Paramount
This is just a really cool, menacing release. To top off the genuinely misanthropic vibes that the music gives off, this is just a really cool piece of wax. It plays from the center outward, ends in a locked groove repeating “Satan is Lord”, and has an Enochian sigil etched into the b side.
* Low Gravity – Incarnadine
These dudes are good friends, and this is a killer slab of groove-laden stoner doom.
* Stoic Dissention – Fatidium Vita
Stoic Dissention are another Denver favorite. If you’re partial to funeral doom with an emphasis on blackened elements, look no further.
Western Ritual is another Denver favorite, and I really hope they get into the studio soon. We’ve played on a number of bills with them, and I routinely get their stuff stuck in my head for days afterwards.
- Best Live Performances of 2012
St. Vitus/ Weedeater/ Sourvein was amazing. I’m bummed that Keko parted ways with Weedeater, but it was cool to see them one last time with that lineup. Earth was another really cool gig. I got to speak to Dylan Carlson for about 20 minutes outside the venue, and he seems like a really cool, genuine person. EYEHATEGOD was another amazing show, and it was cool to see our buddies in Low Gravity, Black Sleep of Kali & The Flight of Sleipnir get to open for them. Swans was another really interesting gig. I also really enjoyed seeing YOB with Norska and Primitive Man.
- Overall this was a really cool year. We were lucky enough to play shows with some really cool bands, and I’m looking forward to where 2013 will take us. We’re working on a follow-up to our debut record, and so far I’ve been pleased with the direction the songs are taking. If funds will permit it, we’d also like to venture out on our first tour, but we need to scratch together some coin before that can happen.

Wheelfall - Another Stoner Metal band who came out of nowhere to totally blow me away with their amazing debut album. As with Bear Fight! give me a great interview.

Personal Highlights Of 2012
Aaron joining the team. Took the blog in a whole different direction. Doing interviews, more reviews and mixing with free downloads. Plus his work on the Facebook Page has been second to none. Took viewers from 225 people upto over a 1000 people.
Adding more team members to make Sludgelord what it is. Sure we lost a few members but we have gained some great writers and made a lot of friends as well. Long may this continue.
Personal Predictions
Hopefully Justin Bieber and Simon Cowell fucking off back to the pits of hell and staying there.

This year was amazing for me personally as Stoic Dissention released or first full length Relinquished which has been very positively received. Also the birth of my son Baylon Veles Salmans brought an ultimate dynamic of glory to my life. Also the Denver Doom fest of which I put on was a major success and I cannot wait til the next one.
I expect 2013 to just expand on the glory of this years triumphs we have all experienced musically speaking.

PERSONAL NOTE:
2012 was pretty rad for me and the guys, I guess. PILGRIM went to Europe, we got some tours under our belt, and we met a ton of new and interesting friends.
A lot of nothing also happened though. We sat around a lot. We also ate a lot of food. It was just as exciting as it was boring.
I think 2013 will be just like 2012, just newer, with cooler cellphones and better graphics.

ULLA Roschat (The Wicked Lady Show)
here are my top 15 albums of 2012 ( no easy decision at all):
1) This Gift Is A Curse - I, Guilt Bearer
2) Horseback - Half Blood

5) Black Shape Of Nexus - Negative Black
6) Serpentine Path - Serpentine Path

11) Herder - Horror Vacui
12) Old Man Gloom - NO
13) Witchcraft - Legend
14) Ahab - The Giant
15) Valborg - Nekrodepression
This year's revelations for me was This Gift Is A Curse and their album I, Guilt Bearer. What a cool mix of Black/Sludge and HC,
and Bitcho, who I heard and saw on the Mudfest in Venlo for the first time. They blew me away with a 3 bass attack of noisy drone sludge stuff.
I loved that each hair on my body was vibrating from that droning bass sound :)
I was lucky to be able to attend quite a lot live performances this year some of them were impressive. Of course the already mentioned Bitcho at Mudfest, also Huata and Belzebong who also perfomed at Mudfest. Actually I would like to name ALL bands that performed at Mudfest, but they would be too many. Two other concerts are to mention here and that is one of Enslaved and one of Ramesses.
I have no concrete anticipations or expectations for 2013, I have no idea of any plans of bands, I just wait and be surprised when there comes a cool release ;)

Conclusions for 2012 :
lots of cool stuff from cool people to listen to; speak with and about those bands featured in the blog is most often a real and sincere pleasure. Music has never been so important for myself, a unique and magic way to escape from everyday's life problems and/or routine... some very cool relations with other bloggers, underground addicts.. Thanks to you all for the good vibes \m/
Even if you always have doubts and fears towards the education you give them and the future of this more and more mad, greedy world they'll live in, I'm so proud of my sons Jocelyn and Liam, I love them and their mother Nathalie whom I will never thank enough for her patience, affection and understanding.
Expectations for 2013 :
See the following bands live- AUTOPSY, WO FAT, EIBON, ELDER, NORTHWINDS and between others if I had to choose only 2 - if not in 2013, before I die - they would be then ICE DRAGON and IN THE COMPANY OF SERPENTS, this would be the ultimate sonic experience !!!! go at the Heavy Days in Doomtown fest; see good friends from the scene at all those gigs...
Continue and developp - if possible - the blog, still need a couple of contributors more and/or one who could give a more important and regular work... (think about it muthas, hehehe !)
Have good times with my family :)
****************************************************************
Don't worry if you didn't find your answers here ;) I'm sorry but this would have been definitely too long to put everyone in just one part !!!!
so, expect a PART II to be published in 2 or 3 days, including nice people from CROWN, CHOWDER, THE PLEDGE OF CAIN, EARTHEN GRAVE, ARKHAM WITCH, SOUTHERN BADASS, WAR INJUN , BASTARD OF THE SKIES, BLASTING DAYS, DOGBANE, DAYS OF THE DOOMED FEST, DOOM METAL FRONT, etc...
Great, Magister ! Et merci de nous faire figurer dans tes attentes 2013, on va essayer d'etre à la hauteur !
