Hailing from Lyon (Fr), this quintet has unleashed a few months ago a new EP called "From Blind to blue", which follows "Into The Eye of the Storm" released last year through Dell Rusk Records / Deadlight Entertainment (Flashfalcon, Los Disidentes del Sucio Motel).
This DIY 4 songs affair is downloadable for FREE and you really should take this opportunity to discover their solid blend of fuzz and heavy rock that hits hard with an amazing laid back feel !
Firmly influenced at their beginnings by the hard'n heavy style of FU MANCHU and the likes, it looks like the guys have hardly work on generating a more personnal sound, a bit like TRUCKFIGHTERS did progressively and the result is very conclusive.
While "Collapse" and "Cosmic Monster" are very heavy and have a pronounced in-your-face tone, "(Ain't) no Way Out" is more smooth and filled with nice rounded melodies but nothing too intrusive, the atmosphere is still heavy and the chorus riff is vicious.
Vocals by Rick are rasping and infectious, sometimes more sweet, confirming then some grunge hints that definitely put out the band outside the Desert Rock category (which is absolutely not a problem).
My fave song is undoubtely the last one "Tornado" with those waves of fuzzy guitars that you can almost feel slowly being poured into your ears, very absorbing and drifting back into your mind; with also more warped vocals there is in this one a great addition -that should maybe developped in the future- in terms of stoned effect, I feel here a little Sigiriya touch that is exciting !
SLUT MACHINE has already had great reviews from more than a couple of webzines but deserves more attention cause this EP is definitely a nice little surprise in the french Stoner landscape.
